Dr. Stephanie Joy Sweeney
Dr. Stephanie Joy Sweeney is a Georgia native, a University of Georgia Honors College graduate, and a proud alumna of the Medical College of Georgia. After sharpening her skills in advanced technology dentistry in North Carolina, she returned home to Savannah in 2016 with a clear purpose — to build a practice that does things differently. At 19, she watched her childhood dentist change a patient's life with a smile transformation, and that moment never left her. Savannah Dental is the direct result of that conviction: a place where patients get real time, real answers, and care that looks at the whole person — not just the teeth.
Dr. Sweeney is one of the few dentists in the Savannah area with advanced training in airway health and dental sleep medicine, having trained through The Breathe Institute and completing a maxi residency in TMJ and Sleep Medicine at Tufts. She's also a Platinum Invisalign provider certified through two leading Invisalign schools — and trains other dentists on Invisalign herself. Her expertise spans cosmetic dentistry, laser procedures, digital smile design, and implant restorations, all backed by a commitment to lifelong learning and US-based labs only.
Outside the office, Dr. Sweeney is most at home near the water — surfing, kiteboarding, or sailing along the Georgia coast. She chose Savannah not just for the practice she wanted to build, but for the city itself and the family she wanted to be close to. She's deeply rooted in the community, supporting organizations including Ronald McDonald House, the American Heart Association, the Caretta Research Project, and more. To her patients, she's not just their dentist — she's a neighbor who genuinely cares.

What can I expect at my first appointment?
Your first visit is 90 minutes — and that's completely intentional. Our hygienist will take thorough records, do a comprehensive cleaning, and genuinely get to know you. By the time Dr. Sweeney or Dr. Campbell sits down with you, we have the full picture and the time to walk through your options without anyone feeling rushed. Most patients tell us they didn't know a dental visit could feel like this.
I haven't been to the dentist in a long time. Will I be judged?
Not even a little. We hear this often, and our answer is always the same — the length of the gap doesn't matter. What matters is that you're here now. We'll meet you exactly where you are, figure out what's going on, and build a plan that makes sense for your life. Zero judgment, always.
Do you see kids?
Yes — and we love it. We see patients of all ages, including little ones. We especially look at airway health in children early, because catching breathing and development issues young can make a meaningful difference in how they grow, sleep, and thrive.
Do you offer sedation for anxious patients?
Yes. Dr. Campbell is certified in IV conscious sedation for patients who need extra support during treatment. You don't have to push through fear to get the care you deserve. We'll make sure you feel safe, informed, and completely at ease before anything begins.
Do I need a referral for implants or other specialty treatments?
No referrals needed — ever. Dr. Campbell places and restores implants right here in our office. Whatever you need, we handle it as a team, so you never have to start over with someone new or explain your story from scratch at another practice.
What if I don't have dental insurance?
We've got you covered. We offer flexible financing through CareCredit, SunBit, Proceed, and Cherry, plus an in-house discount plan for patients without insurance. We'll walk you through every option and help you find a path that works — because cost should never be the reason you put your health on hold.
